Case study
Which comparable products are becoming cheaper? Which supplier is entering one of our core markets? Where is additional production capacity being created? The VectoTherm example shows how Rivalyne brings these developments together for management, with specific details, dates and sources.
This is a fictional example. The companies, products, figures, events and source documents were created to illustrate how we work.
VectoTherm AG · Storage tanks and heat pumps · August 2026
VectoTherm is an Austrian manufacturer with 280 employees. Its range includes hot-water and buffer storage tanks, domestic hot-water heat pumps with capacities of 200 to 300 litres, and space-heating heat pumps. Austria and Germany are its main markets. Through distributors, VectoTherm also sells storage tanks in Czechia and Slovakia.
Sales and product development know the competitors. However, information from trade media, customer conversations and company publications is scattered across different places. Management wants a regular, shared overview of relevant developments with a clear evidence trail.
Rivalyne complements the company’s existing market knowledge by monitoring public sources. The brief covers relevant competitors, products and markets, alongside relevant market conditions and external developments. The following three items are an extract from the August report.

The comparison covers the same products. According to the change notice, specifications and standard warranty terms remain unchanged. Individual dealer discounts are not included in the list prices. [Q01, Q02]
VectoTherm offers domestic hot-water heat pumps in the same capacity range in both countries. Management can therefore compare the price change with a specific part of its own range. The affected models, scale of the change and effective date are established; actual dealer purchase prices cannot be inferred from these figures.

03 – Where is additional capacity being created for products we also offer?
Published on 27 August 2026
Veltrona Speichertechnik announces an additional production line at its Czech site. Annual capacity for hot-water and buffer storage tanks is to rise from 80,000 to 100,000 units. Planned investment is EUR 6 million, with commissioning in April 2027. The site supplies markets including Germany, Czechia and Slovakia. [Q04, section 2]
In the business update published at the same time, storage-tank revenue for January to July rises by 10% year on year to EUR 30.8 million. Units delivered increase by 4% to 36,400. Veltrona attributes the difference to a higher proportion of larger tanks. [Q04, section 1]
VectoTherm sells storage tanks in the same countries. Management receives both current comparative figures for the product business and an overview of the planned capacity expansion. Revenue, units delivered and future production capacity are reported separately. The announced capacity is not a sales forecast.

Rivalyne selects developments based on the company profile and checks the underlying publications. Product relevance, affected markets, scale and timing are clearly identified. Source references appear alongside the claims they support.
For example, the price comparison matches the same products across two price lists. The market-entry item distinguishes the completed acquisition from the announced sales launch. The capacity-expansion item keeps historical business figures separate from future investment plans.

Each report includes a source register with the publisher, document title, publication date, link and, for longer documents, the relevant section. This lets you trace the basis of a statement and read further details when needed.
